Meet George Anghelcev, new senior research fellow with the Page Center

George Anghelcev

George Anghelcev has been appointed this year as senior research fellow at the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication. He brings an array of international research and teaching experience to his position.

An associate professor of advertising/public relations in the College of Communications at Penn State University, Anghelcev has taught and lectured at universities in China, France, Hungary, Romania and the U.S. His research examines the psychology of persuasive communication campaigns in multiple social advertising domains, including campaigns focused on public health, volunteering, environmental protection and the support of charitable organizations.

Anghelcev's research has been published in International Journal of Advertising, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Marketing Communications, Journal of Social Marketing and other journals. He has received three Top Research Paper Awards from the Advertising Division of AEJMC (Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication) and an outstanding journal article award from the Journal of Social Marketing for research on the impact of mood on people's responses to health communication campaigns.

He sits on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Social Marketing. He currently serves as research chair on the executive board of the Advertising Division of AEJMC.

His most current research focuses on organic food marketing and analyzing patterns in the dissemination of sustainability-related talk on social media platforms.
