Activities for Students

Be a Part of the Page Center Awards

You are invited to join us on March 25 at 4 p.m. ET to honor a stellar group of communicators. We hope our special virtual program will spark discussion online and in your classrooms. It's free to attend, but please register and let us know where you're from. You can submit a question for one of our honorees that may be asked during the event.

A recording of the entire program will be shared shortly after its conclusion. Be sure to register to get the link when it's available.

The Page Center Awards Online Module

The Page Center is offering an in-depth, next level experience that will encourage students to reflect on the expertise of Larry Foster Award for Integrity recipients. In this free, online module, students will build an understanding of ethics, research and the role of organizations in supporting the public understanding of integrity. Over two lessons, students will hear from current and past honorees, identify their own principles and, when complete, receive a Page Center Integrity Badge provided from Credly.

Start the module for more information and to view Lesson #1. Lesson #2 will be available immediately after the event. To receive the Page Center Integrity badge, both lessons must be complete.

The deadline to complete the module and receive the badge is March 31.

Student Essay Contest

Undergraduate students can choose one honoree and submit an essay reflecting on the advice and stories that honoree shares during their segment. Essays should also focus on the honoree's career, as well as their integrity and achievements being honored at the awards. Winning essayists will receive $250. The essays will be posted on the Page Center blog and shared on its social media accounts. The honoree featured in the essay will also receive a copy.

The deadline to complete the essay is April 3.

Chat Room

On the night of the Page Center Awards, be a part of a lively and timely conversation about integrity in public communication. Join communication professionals, faculty and students from around the globe in the awards chat room. The chat will begin 15 minutes before the event starts.

Page Center scholars and advisory board members will be a part of the discussion. They will chime in on conversations and interact with others who are live-tweeting before, during and after the awards.

You can also follow @thepagecenter and use #PageCenterAwards to share thoughts and ask questions. We may retweet and share comments — as well as highlight some tweets that best capture the spirit of the awards.

Your Questions for the Honorees

When you register, there will be an option to write in questions for honorees. Questions should be geared toward integrity and ethics, particularly in the workplace and in public communication. Students, professors, and attendees are welcome to submit questions for any of the honorees. Some may be shared with the honorees and discussed during the event.

Ideas for In-Class Assignments

The Page Center Awards event is a memorable night where communicators from different industries come together to honor integrity and ethical decision-making — but it doesn't have to end there. We hope the discussion will continue the next day in class and throughout the semester.

Here are some potential assignments faculty can include in their classwork based on the awards:

  • Enter the Student Essay Contest.

  • Class discussion: What were the most memorable parts of the night? Who was most inspiring? What quotes were most impactful?

  • Hold your own Page Center Awards. Who is someone that exudes integrity? Record a Q&A with them to learn why integrity is important.

  • Write a case study about one of the honorees

  • Share and discuss student-submitted questions.

Post-Event

The Page Center Awards will be recorded and available shortly after the live event. We know students and faculty are busy and may not be able to join us. To increase the longevity of this special night, we encourage faculty and students to revisit the recorded awards and include the discussions with our honorees in future in-class conversations.
