Alice Cheng

Page Center scholar Alice Cheng is an associate professor in the Department of Communication and an adjunct professor in the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University, as well as an associate editor for the Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management. She has taught many courses such as strategic management, research methods, introduction of public relations and crisis communication. She has demonstrated a long-term commitment to research involving global public relations management, social media and artificial intelligence and crisis communication. Cheng has published more than 160 journal articles, conference papers and book chapters.

Yan Jin

Page Center scholar Yan  Jin 's work serves as a framework for crisis and risk communication in a rapidly evolving media landscape and amidst emotionally charged conflict situations, ranging from organizational crises to disasters and public health emergencies. Jin’s research programs in crisis communication, conflict management, and health risk communication contribute to the advancement of strategic communication theory and provide insights for public relations practice. Jin has authored more than 135 peer-reviewed journal articles, more than over 44 book chapters and edited several books. She is also the co-founder of the Crisis Communication Think Tank, a center at the University of Georgia that examines global crisis communication trends.

Philippe Borremans

Philippe Borremans is an independent consultant specializing in risk, crisis and emergency communication with over two decades of experience. Throughout his career, he has worked with international health & emergency agencies (WHO, ICRC, ECDC), governments and corporations, developing comprehensive communication plans and delivering crisis simulation training. A former president of the International Public Relations Association and corporate communications leader at IBM, Borremans brings hands-on expertise in managing public health emergencies, natural hazards and corporate reputation challenges. He is the author of Mastering Crisis Communication with ChatGPT: A Practical Guide and produces the Wag The Dog newsletter and podcast, sharing his strategic approach that combines technology, data-driven decision-making and empathy to help organizations navigate complex crises.

Gary Sheffer

Gary Sheffer is a member of the Page Center advisory board. He was the Sandra A. Frazier professor of public relations at Boston University until 2024. Prior to that position, he was a senior corporate strategist at Weber Shandwick. For 13 years, Sheffer served as vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for General Electric. He was GE’s chief global reputation officer, developing protocols for crisis, risk assessment and tactical execution. Sheffer also served as chairman of the Page Society. He is on the board of the Institute for Public Relations and is a founder/board member of the GE-Reagan Scholarship Program.
